LATE
1940'S WALT DISNEY DONALD DUCK CHILD'S WARMING DISH, CORAL COLORED
(NOT PINK, I JUST COULDN'T GET THE COLOR RIGHT IN THE PHOTO) POTTERY
WITH A GLOSS FINISH, HOLLOW SO THAT HE CAN BE FILLED WITH WARM WATER TO
KEEP BABY'S FOOD WARM, ABOUT 8 1/4" LONG BY 6 1/2" WIDE, AND 2" DEEP WITHOUT
DONALD'S HEAD, THE HEAD, WHICH ACTS AS THE STOPPER FOR THE FILL HOLE, IS
2 1/2" HIGH. THIS DISH IS NOT MARKED DONALD DUCK OR WALT DISNEY IN
ANYPLACE I CAN FIND, YET I AM CERTAIN IT IS DONALD DUCK. I AM EQUALLY
CERTAIN THAT HE WAS MADE BY AN AMERICAN POTTERY COMPANY. (COULD IT
THEN BE IMPLIED THAT HE MUST BE AUTHORIZED? I DON'T KNOW.) This Donald
Duck child's warming dish is in excellent condition. There are no
chips or crazing. There is a small, light hairline crack on Donald's
bill. While this hairline is definitely there, it really isn't noticeable
except upon closer inspection. Also,
his cork stopper that goes around a porcelain piece below his head, had
deteriorated to the point it wouldn't stay on and got lost. I understand
it is not difficult to drill out a replacement cork. The cork is not necessary.
