LATE
1800's EARLY 1900's ANTIQUE VICTORIAN, BRASS ORIENTAL CALLIGRAPHY BRUSH
TRAY, with birds, houses(?) and water, JAPANESE OR CHINESE, A WORK OF ART,
2 3/4" X 14", made of brass and the decoration has great detail, the decoration
comes through to the reverse side, but not in as much detail. There
are 3 groups of 4 holes through the tray. I do not know why they
are there, but I am confident they are original to the piece. The tray
has a lovely (although uneven) original patina. I was told the dark
spots of patina will come right off with a low abrasive polish, but I do
not believe in messing with patina as I prefer the older patina.
I will leave it up to the buyer to decide what s/he prefers. It is a fairly
heavy piece for its size. I got about 7 oz. Very Good condition.
The tray is straight and has no dents. There does not appear to be
any scratches on it. The only defect I see is the uneven patina which
has created dark spots on it. #MIJ31130

1950's
- '60's FIRE EXTINGUISHER DECANTER/MUSIC BOX, wind-up plays "How Dry I
Am" when you pick it up, under extinguisher top handle is a plastic lined
chrome pour spout, this is not a shaker, 11 7/8" high by 3 1/2" in diameter,
metal outer case surrounded with red vinyl (more of a true red than my
photo shows), glass interior to hold liquid, red reads "Thirst Extinguisher,
Dispense freely for best results, To refill call your host, Approved by
underwriters fire chief, Keep available for emergencies" in metallic silver
lettering, very good condition, plays well, a couple of light scuffs on
the red, some wear on the lettering including the "F" in Freely is missing
part of the letter
and the last "L" in Refill is mostly missing; Plus oddly (although
it is not really obvious), there is no space between the "l" and the "y"
in "Call Your Host" and #25411
$22.00
SIMILAR TO ABOVE
IN BLACK, looks the same as above except that it is black instead of red,
it has a cork stopper instead of a plastic one so I thin it is older, excellent
condition with some mild wear on the outside vinyl, no spacing error
#25411 $28.00 ....

LARGE
POTTERY BASSET FIGURINE, marked "Japan",
7 1/2" high X
8" long, with the original K-mart sticker "$19.97". This sticker has me
confused. Without the sticker, I would have guesstimated the figurine
to be from the 1950's or 1960's. Because the price is so high,
it seems it must be from later (maybe 1970's), very good condition, no
cracks or chips, but the paint has worn off (or never was there)
in many places on the head and back #HD25104
$20.00

1920's BLACK
METAL BULLDOG ON ART DECO METAL BASE, made of a soft white metal,
marked "Made in Japan", I am not certain what this is as it has a
small and thin metal hoop on the the point in front of the bulldog, from
the collection of David Leavitt -- founder of the Olde English Bulldogge
breed (Leavitt Bulldogs breed), about 4 1/2" long x 2" high, fair to good
condition -- there is a slight bending of the base away from the dog figure
sitting on top of it, but you really do not notice that until you
look at the bottom of the piece, paint wear on the dog and the bas and
the base back, base back also has scratches #BD30521
#24.00 ....
