BOX
OF 6 MINIATURE DeGRASSE GRANDEE PERFUME RONDELET OR FLACON. THERE
IS MUGUET (5/8 FULL), TIGRAMONT (5/8 FULL), ENTRE DANSE (5/8 FULL), SHOBLEE
(1/2 FULL), WOODRUFF (5/8 FULL), AND ATTARDARK (JUST SHY OF 1/2 FULL).
THE RONDELET
ALL HAVE ART DECO WHITE OVAL PAPER LABELS WHICH SAY THEY ARE "GENUINE ...
(WHATEVER THE NAME OF THE PERFUME IS)" PLUS THEY ALL SAY "PERFUME
GRANDEE", "DISTRIBUTORS, DeGRASSE GRANDE CORP., NEW YORK, NY, .O7 OZ."
EACH FLACON IS 2 3/8" HIGH AND 1/4" IN DIAMETER. EACH FLACON
HAS A BRASS COLORED (MAY BE BRASS ALL THE WAY THROUGH, BUT I CANNOT TELL
FOR CERTAIN) SCREW-ON LID WHICH HAS A RUBBER-LIKE STOPPER BUILT INTO IT.
THE FLACON ARE
ALL COLLECTED IN A CLEAR PLASTIC CASE WITH ART DECO ACCENT LATCH.
THEY ARE HELD IN PLACE BY A METALLIC GOLD CARDBOARD PIECE. THE CASE
IS 2 1/2" HIGH, 3 3/8" WIDE AND 7/8" DEEP.
I REALLY DO NOT
KNOW WHAT TIME PERIOD THESE ARE FROM, 1940'S - 50'S?, BUT THEY COULD BE
EARLIER AND THEY COULD BE LATER.
I THINK THESE
ARE FRENCH, BUT I AM NOT CERTAIN. THERE IS A LABEL INSIDE THE BOTTOM
OF THE CASE. BECAUSE I DO NOT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE
TRYING TO SAY, I AM GOING TO QUOTE THE WHOLE LABEL:
"An individual
"GRANDEE" (miniature) carry away flacon within easy reach and the true
meaning of your choice.. Really lasting subtleties compounded with imports,
in a favorite old love or a vibrant new fancy." IT FOLLOWS WITH A LIST
OF FRAGRANCES "BY DeGRASSE GRANDEE, NEW YORK".
The condition
of 5 of the individual flacon is near mint. I really could find no
damage or wear and I down graded to near mint because of the missing perfume...
maybe I should have taken it lower. The 6th flacon - Tigramont -
has some crinkling and soiling on the label. Almost like someone
had reapplied the label.
As you can see
from the photo above, the case has some damage. There is a milky
like streak across it (maybe a stress on the plastic?) and 2 spots where
either the plastic is a little sick or the remnants of a price tag remain
- slightly raised. I tried to remove this with Goo Gone and it did
not come off. Also, there is light scratching on the plastic case.
However, none are deep or long and it is not extensive scratching
#20044 US $18.00
